I cannot believe over 365 days have passed with me having true hair freedom. Yes folks, I finally made it to my 1yr anniversary and I can't be happier. I must first thank the WONDERFUL Paulette (Detroit Consultant) who got me off to a wonderful start. For those of you who don't already know I drove from the Chi to the D faithfully for maintanence for 8 mos. I was just so afraid of letting someone else get into my head after Paulette had me off to such a wonderful start. My hair was doing fine and I was starting to feel comfortable with the idea of finding a consultant in Chi. Well, GOD must have been on my side because I was able to get in with the WONDERFUL Beverly Credelle. She picked up where Paulette left off and the rest is history. I'm telling you, I truly feel like I hit the jackpot with both of these ladies. Meaning, I didn't have to experience anything horrible with my consultant or worst of all being unhappy with my hair. Kudos to both. This 1yr Journeeey w sl's has had more up's than down. I can go on forever about the up's but write about one down (dandruff). I'm still learning how to control it but other than that oh and those permed ends (that were cut after 3mos) my journeeey has been peaceful. I really wished I had done this years ago. Ok, now to the photos.

What a difference a year makes. pic 2 left is 1st week & 2 the right 1yr.

3mos & 1yr!

8 mos & ...u guessed it, 1 yr. As u can see....my hair began to sprout between the 5th & 8th month.

I usually wore my hair freestyle most of the time. However, I did attempt at styling every now and then with a twist on the side or curls.

loving it nappy! Candace....1 yr & counting.

Greetings to all. I have finally mastered the technique of making a slideshow. The few pics that you'll see in the slideshow are from the last 3 months, making me reach my ninth month mark (actually next week) I Can't believe its been 9 months already. What truly makes me happy is that my students (I work in a HS) all compliment me on my hair a lot more and always want to keep their fingers in my head to fill the locs. My co=worker has also decided to join the world of sisterlocks. She has seen my progress from day 1 and gave me my 1st compliment when I returned to work with the new due and she continues to compliment me on my hair everyweek. Seeing the progression of my hair is what made her say "Ok, I'm getting sisterlocks". Oh, its soooo nice to be an inspiration to someone else just like a lot of my fellow bloggers where an inspiration to me before I made up my mind. Enjoy the slideshow.

Looks like I haven't been keeping up with my blog lately...I've been tagged (finally!) Ok...here it goes, 7 random facts about Mzcka (and in no particular order):

1. I lost my father to cancer in 1998, he's buried in Memphis, TN and every year since his death I, along with my younger brother drive to Memphis to put a flower on my daddy's grave to honor him.

2. My Uncle is my best friend (about a 10 yr age difference). We do everything together & talk about everything with each other (some find it weird especially guys, they say they could never compete with my uncle because I have him on a pedestal and vice versa)

3. I have a couple of tattoo's (of course praying hands on my shoulder blades that say "Daddy Dearest" and a piercing or two (more like two :)

4. I love to bowl (I'd probably bowl for a living if I could)

5. I love to hit the Casino every now and then (more like now than then :)

6. Took two years of Greek while in school (wish I would have stayed w/it)

7. Last but no least, I have been locked for 8 months now (recent pic above) and I have faithfully driven to my consultant who lives in Detroit(Paulette) (did I mention I live in Chicago) every 6 weeks for my re-thighteningsssssss (it's ok though, I do bowling tournaments when I go).

Ok,,,,next on the tagged list is (forgive me if you've been tagged already) Ree-C, Golden08, Monica
